Sheryl Vanderwalker, former owner of Rules of the Road Driving School and Vice President of Operations for Global Driving Solutions, has over 10 years' experience in driver training curriculum development and design. She also has 30 years of instructor development and training. Sheryl’s expertise in business start-ups, education, training and motivation together with instructor training, trainer of trainer qualifications in multiple vehicle types, uniquely qualifies her to develop the behavior-based GDS driving curriculums. As the founder/owner and operator of her own driving school, Sheryl has operational and management experience in the commercial driving school arena. Ms Vanderwalker spent 25 years in law enforcement and hands on field training. She began her career training police officers in all aspects of law enforcement and driving from basic patrol to high-speed pursuit driving. Sheryl has over 9 years of experience as a TSE Trainer of Trainer in the states of Washington and Oregon. She has worked as an adjunct professor at Western Oregon University and currently at Central Washington University, training hundreds of TSE instructors. Sheryl is a Washington State Department of Licensing Certified and Master License Examiner. She presents at Traffic Safety Conferences at the national, regional and local levels. Sheryl is part of a select group of women from the USA that has participated in consulting and training women in Saudi Arabia on the subject of traffic safety education. Sheryl believes in creating a driving, safety culture utilizing her experience in law enforcement and higher education to create quality training programs in her local community and the Pacific Northwest region of the United States. Sheryl holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Washington State University and is a graduate of the Washington State Criminal Justice Academy.
John Vanderwalker (Mr. V) has been a King County Sheriff for 33 years and co-owned Rules of the Road Driving School with his wife Mrs. V. He is also a Drive Instructor for RORDS. Mr. V attended Green River Community College and retired after 27 years in the Air Force Reserve. Mr. V enjoys motorcycling, ATVing, scuba diving, and all kinds of firearms. He is also a firearms trainer.
Office Administrator/ Instructor/ Examiner/ Trainer
Kelley Bickerstaff is the Rules of the Road Driving School Office Administrator, Driving Instructor and Certified Knowledge and Skills Test Examiner. Kelley has been a valued member of Rules of the Road Driving School for the past eleven years. Mrs. Kelley graduated from Green River Community College with her AA degree and also attended the PIMA medical institute to receive her background in veterinarian education. Kelley and her husband Stephen live in Enumclaw with their chocolate lab Trigger and rat terrier Bee.
Jerri Snow is a Driving Instructor, as well as a licensed Examiner at RORDS. Jerri loves the outdoors, snowmobiling, camping and, her favorite thing, riding her quad. She has two grown children and two much adored grandchildren. She has experience in bookkeeping and customer service. She belongs to the SnoJammers snowmobile club and is very involved with her family. Friendly and fun, she enjoys being part of the team at RORDS.
Larry Martin is a Driving instructor for Rules of the Road Driving School and Licensing. Larry is happily married and has 2 grown children and 2 teenage grandchildren. Larry is a retired Seattle Police Officer that now enjoys volunteering with the senior community and teaching at a local community church. Larry is also an ordained minister that performs weddings and funerals in his spare time.
Jake Wiltse is a driving instructor for Rules of the Road Driving School and Licensing Office. After graduating from Bonney Lake High School, Jake served for 8 years in the United States Marine Corps as an E-4 Corporal where he did 1 tour in Afghanistan. Once leaving the Marines, Jake attended and graduated with his BA in criminal justice from the University of Washington. Jake has been married to his wife Danielle for eight years and has two sons, Jason, 7 and Dennis, 2. Jake enjoys playing video games, playing softball and spending time with his family.
Front Office Customer Service Representative
April Hicks is a front office customer service representative for Rules of the Road Driving School and Licensing Office. April lived in Greenwater from ’88-2017 and is now happily an Enumclaw Flatlander. She attended Green River for her AA and Pacific Lutheran University for Environmental Studies. She and her husband have a giant dog, one cool cat, and two adult-ish kids (one at Royal College of Music in London and one at home in Running Start). She and her family skate for the Auburn Inline Speed Team and April boasts that she is their slowest “speedskater”. April is a self-professed closet introvert and enjoys reading – but doesn’t. In her spare time (milliseconds) she dreams of spare time.
Front Office Customer Service Representative
Gail Camp is a front office customer service representative for Rules of the Road Driving School and Licensing Office. For years, Gail was a Carbonado resident but just recently moved to Bonney Lake. Gail is married to her husband Nick and has 2 grown children, her son Kyle and daughter Katelin. Her son is currently serving in the United States Army and is stationed in South Korea. Gail has a long history in customer service, spending many years working for her families plumbing company. Gail enjoys writing poetry, spending time with her family and traveling to the ocean. Gail has a big personality and is always up for a good laugh!
